AIBD 1-Month Online Workshop/ Mentoring Session for Health Journalists and Content Creators (ASEAN & PACIFIC – Group 1)

Background

The ongoing pandemic of COVID-19, and threat of emergence of other epidemics have highlighted the need for strengthening the capacity of the broadcasters to cope with such public health issues. The recognition that ill health not only incapacitates individuals and puts financial burden on their families, but also can impact national economy as well as the bottom line of broadcasters, makes this task urgent. It has become clear that it is important to train journalists further on reporting on health issues. 

Aim

AIBD will be conducting an intensive 1-month long training and mentoring session by experts, starting from January 2021.The purpose of these sessions will be to review the AIBD Health Communication Manual and go through the content on comprehension and user-friendliness of the text, while going in-depth on methodology of health Journalism.

Profile of Participants

  • Must have at least 2- 3 years’ experience with programme production or news, from either radio, TV or new media,
  • Keen interest in health and science programmes,
  • Should be proficient in English language
