in her opening remarks, AIBD Secretariat Director/CEO, Ms Philomena Gnanapragasam described the world as a “cyber-village” with the advent of digital revolutions which has brought positive and negative impacts on people’s livelihood.

“Digital disruption changes in technology and the essence of dissemination of information occurs everywhere on multi-media platforms which had led to the greatest issue of cyber-security”, she pointed out.

Social media is our Wikipedia and even Wikipedia needs change. So, we need to be really careful about how we consume media. Media needs to be celebrated, media needs to change itself, media needs to continuously reform and reinvent itself, and we are as media practitioners – a really resilient people, thus the theme this year “Media: the New Odyssey” says it all.

She also took the opportunity to thank all the Strategic Partners like IPPTAR, BAC, FINAS, Ministry of Communications including the Deputy Minister, Hon Teo Nie Ching for their supports and journey with AIBD for the success of this 19^th AMS 2024 which is solely organised and hosted by AIBD, for the first time without a host country.
