Asia Media Summit 2024

19TH ASIA MEDIA SUMMIT
The Asia Media Summit (AMS) is an annual international media conference organised by AIBD as its flagship event. Every year in consultation with the members, partners and various global media gurus, a theme guides the direction and delivery of the summit. Being a unique broadcasting event in Asia-Pacific, it attracts around 500 top-ranking broadcasters, decision makers, media professionals, regulators, scholars, and stakeholders from within and outside the region. Apart from plenary sessions and pre-summit workshops, Asia Media Summit also provides a platform for intergovernmental dialogues to uplift the benchmarks of the regional media industry.

AIBD/Prasar Bharati/STI-T sub-regional workshop on migration from analogue to digital broadcasting was held from 23 to 27 September 2013 in New Delhi, India. The workshop was organised by AIBD in collaboration with Prasar Bharat/ STI-(T). The aims of this workshop were to facilitate and support broadcasting engineers towards proper selection, planning and implementation from analogue to digital migration.
 

AIBD/Prasar Bharati/STI-T sub-regional workshop on migration from analogue to digital broadcasting was held from 23 to 27 September 2013 in New Delhi, India. The workshop was organised by AIBD in collaboration with Prasar Bharat/ STI-(T). The aims of this workshop were to facilitate and support broadcasting engineers towards proper selection, planning and implementation from analogue to digital migration.

This one week workshop was focused on migration from analogue to digital broadcasting. The workshop very well highlighted the advantages and importance of digital transmission over analogue and the standards.

Discussion focused on matters such as Importance of selection of suitable technologies including the requirement and challenges of proper planning in adapting the digital transmission. The case studies and experiences of digitalization in Asia Pacific countries were highlighted. The discussed matter also focused the major challenges involved in migration, digital dividends & coverage planning along with the ITU guidelines.

Twenty four participants attended the workshop including twelve participants from India and twelve participants from Bangladesh, Brunei, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Nepal, Nigeria, Sri Lanka and Thailand. The participants are experienced in field of operation and maintenance of Radio and TV broadcasting.

Consultants were from faculty of Staff Training Institute (STI-T), AIR & DD Network and some of the retired officers of Prasar Bharati were also invited as the resource person to give their valuable inputs.

As a study tour, participants also got an opportunity to visit the DRM transmitter and digital studios of All India Radio and Doordarshan

The surveillance audit was successfully completed on 23 August 2013 at AIBD. The conclusion was that AIBD’s management system was in line with the requirements of the standard. The Institute has demonstrated the ability to maintain the system to systematically achieve the requirements for its services to AIBD’s members and partners within the scope of its policy and objectives during the period under review in 2012 and 2013.
