19TH ASIA MEDIA SUMMIT
The Asia Media Summit (AMS) is an annual international media conference organised by AIBD as its flagship event. Every year in consultation with the members, partners and various global media gurus, a theme guides the direction and delivery of the summit. Being a unique broadcasting event in Asia-Pacific, it attracts around 500 top-ranking broadcasters, decision makers, media professionals, regulators, scholars, and stakeholders from within and outside the region. Apart from plenary sessions and pre-summit workshops, Asia Media Summit also provides a platform for intergovernmental dialogues to uplift the benchmarks of the regional media industry.

AIBD has successfully completed its annual surveillance audit and the auditor concluded that AIBD’s management system is in line with the requirements of the standard and demonstrated the ability to achieve agreed requirements for services within the scope of the Institute’s policy and objectives during the period under review from 2013 to 2014.

AIBD has successfully completed its annual surveillance audit and the auditor concluded that AIBD’s management system is in line with the requirements of the standard and demonstrated the ability to achieve agreed requirements for services within the scope of the Institute’s policy and objectives during the period under review from 2013 to 2014.

The audit was conducted on 28 August 2014 and Mr. Yang Binyuan, Director AIBD welcomed the Auditor, Mr Eddie Fuad of SGS Sdn. Bhd. Systems & Services and explained how ISO certification is important for the AIBD to maintain its credibility.

The objectives of the audit were to confirm that the management system of AIBD conforms to the requirements of the audit standard, to confirm that AIBD has effectively implemented the planned management system during the period under review, and to confirm that the management system of AIBD is capable of achieving the Institute’s policy objectives. The surveillance audit focused on the core activities of the Institute in training, consultancy, publication, content production, conference and workshop organisation.

The certification body in Malaysia was SGS Sdn. Bhd. Systems & Services Certification, affiliated with International Standards Accreditation Services (ISAS). Mr Fuad conducted a process-based audit focusing on significant aspects of risks and objectives as required by the standard. The quality management team at the Institute was led by Mr Rabi KC, Programme Manager / Quality Manager, AIBD.

The audit methods used were interviews, observation of activities and review of documentation and records maintained. The auditor audited individually the staff in charge of the procedures from the Programme, IT, Administration departments and Director, who were responsible for maintaining various processes of the procedures. These procedures were related to aspects such as risk management, stakeholders' satisfaction, staff satisfaction, analysis of data and objectives from consolidated report, objectives, internal audit, continuous improvement action, program planning & production, etc. from the perspective of AIBD’s management and quality management systems.

The auditor concluded that the AIBD has established and maintained its management system in line with the requirements of the standard and demonstrated the ability of the system to achieve agreed requirements for services within the scope of the Institute’s policy and objectives during the period under review from 2013 to 2014.

AIBD was awarded the ISO 9001 certificate in July 2009. In August 2012, the certification was renewed as conforming to ISO 9001: 2008 and ISAS BCP 9001: 2010. This certificate is valid until October 2015.

The In-Country Seminar on Broadcast Management organised by AIBD in collaboration with Telekom Malaysia (TM) was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 19 August 2014. The seminar was designed specifically for TM staff from sales, marketing, technical, customer care centre, officers and managers. The seminar aims to bring understanding the broadcast industry, especially to get a feel of developments concerning technology, business and regulation.

The In-Country workshop on Digital Video Broadcasting - Terrestrial (DVB T2) organised by AIBD in collaboration with Prasar Bharati and STI (T) was held in New Delhi, India from 4 to 8 August 2014. The workshop was designed specifically for broadcast engineers/technicians associated with planning, implementation, operation and maintenance of digital television broadcasting. The workshop also covered various techniques and parameters of DVB-T2.

AIBD Director Yang Binyuan has formally announced his resignation effective 15 September 2014 at the meetings of the AIBD Executive Board and Strategic Planning Team held during the AIBD General Conference in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. After the General Conference, AIBD will publish a recruitment notice to find Binyuan’s replacement.
