The Asia-Pacific Media Alliance for Social Awareness (The Media Alliance) and CSR Asia are organising a one-day seminar on “The CSR practices and policies of the Media, Advertising and Entertainment Sectors in Asia” in both Hong Kong (Tuesday 7 May 2013) and Singapore (Wednesday 8 May 2013).
The event will look at best policies and practices of media companies in giving visibility to social, humanitarian, environmental and sustainable development issues through programming content and social issue and public service advertising.
Media companies can be more than just entities that provide products and services. They have the potential to be vehicles and mediums for positive change among the audiences they reach – as a result of their own values and commitment to a more sustainable future. At a time when corporations are increasingly held accountable and at a time when CSR is good practice for business, what are the CSR practices and polices of the Media, Advertising and Entertainment Sectors in Asia? Training Institutions of the Future
Broadcasters in Asia-Pacific ended the two-day International Conference on Broadcast Training in Kuala Lumpur on 26 February 2013 by examining the demands of training institutions of the future. They identified measures to foster a performance driven culture that meets the demands of new media and social media and contributes to the company’s growth and sustainability, and increased customer satisfaction and contribution to society.

URTI will celebrate its 32nd International Grand Prix for Author’s Documentary during the 53rd Monte-Carlo Television Festival from June 9th to 13th 2013. The competition is open to all the public and private television organisations as well as to the associations and institutions which devote themselves to the audiovisual, at the rate of two programmes by TV channel at the most.

Appeal to AIBD Members on behalf of Fiji Broadcasting Corporation
In December 2012 Fiji was battered by the ferocious tropical cyclone Evan which not only uprooted trees and homes, ripped roofs off buildings and caused widespread power outages but also did not spare the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation (FBC). It left a trail of destruction to its equipment and accessories out of which most of them were beyond repair.
