19TH ASIA MEDIA SUMMIT
The Asia Media Summit (AMS) is an annual international media conference organised by AIBD as its flagship event. Every year in consultation with the members, partners and various global media gurus, a theme guides the direction and delivery of the summit. Being a unique broadcasting event in Asia-Pacific, it attracts around 500 top-ranking broadcasters, decision makers, media professionals, regulators, scholars, and stakeholders from within and outside the region. Apart from plenary sessions and pre-summit workshops, Asia Media Summit also provides a platform for intergovernmental dialogues to uplift the benchmarks of the regional media industry.

AIBD/TVRI in-country consultation on Social and Emerging Media for Broadcast Management was held from 25 – 27 November 2014 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

AIBD/TVRI in-country consultation on Social and Emerging Media for Broadcast Management was held from 25 – 27 November 2014 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Mr Steve Ahern, Managing Director of AMT Pty Ltd and the CEO of the International Media & Broadcasting Academy (IMBA) was the consultant for this activity which aimed to acquaint senior managers with social and emerging media methods that can be used to train broadcasters to use social media as part of their duties.

Eleven participants attended this 3-days course and were enthused by the new perspective they gained on social media and how it can assist them to expand and engage their audience.

The managers went away with action plans for their departments that will result in more social media content in programmes and the use of social media for promotion and audience engagement at TVRI.

AIBD Deputy Director Mr. Marcel Gomez paid an official visit to Chiang Mai, Thailand from 25 to 28 November 2014 for a site inspection and successful preparations for the 41st Annual Gathering / 14th AIBD General Conference & Associated Meetings, to be hosted by the Government Public Relations Department (PRD), Thailand from 18 to 20 August 2015.

Ms. Praphaisri Ketsawa, Director International Cooperation Division, led the PRD team comprising of Ms. Sirinapha Pansang and Mr. Worapon Mathurosmatanee.

AIBD Director Yang Binyuan has formally announced his resignation effective 15 September 2014 at the meetings of the AIBD Executive Board and Strategic Planning Team held during the AIBD General Conference in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. After the General Conference, AIBD will publish a recruitment notice to find Binyuan’s replacement.
