The Kingdom of Cambodia has pledged to host the 20^th Asia Media Summit (AMS) 2025 in Siam Reap.  Siem Reap, a land of historical culture and heritages, first hosted the 16^th Asia Media Summit in 2019.

The Minister of Information (MOI), Hon Neth Pheaktra described hosting this prestigious media summit is a great honour for his country. He disclosed this in his Special Address at the inauguration of the 19^thAMS 2024 on 3^rd September 2024 in Kuala Lumpur.

On combating disinformation, His Excellency assured that Cambodia remains steadfast in its efforts to combat the pervasive challenges of fake news which is very rampant in this region.

“In this era of evolving technologies, including AI, we must collaborate closely to manage these developments and their impact on our nations and governments”, stressed Hon Neth.

“In our digital age, the paradox we face is profound. The very tools that allow us to share knowledge with unprecedented speed and reach have also become conduits for misinformation and falsehoods. This duality presents a unique set of challenges that impact every aspect of our societies, from governance and public policy to personal relationships and community trust.”

Hon Neth encouraged all participants to engage thoughtfully and actively in this summit, with the intention of gathering knowledge that we can bring back to contribute to the development of media in our respective countries, and by extension, to the region and the global community.

His Excellency also commended the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) for continuously driving the media development agenda through the platform of the Asia Media Summit.
