Asia Media Summit 2024

19TH ASIA MEDIA SUMMIT
The Asia Media Summit (AMS) is an annual international media conference organised by AIBD as its flagship event. Every year in consultation with the members, partners and various global media gurus, a theme guides the direction and delivery of the summit. Being a unique broadcasting event in Asia-Pacific, it attracts around 500 top-ranking broadcasters, decision makers, media professionals, regulators, scholars, and stakeholders from within and outside the region. Apart from plenary sessions and pre-summit workshops, Asia Media Summit also provides a platform for intergovernmental dialogues to uplift the benchmarks of the regional media industry.

Tuesday, 23/04/2024 – Ms. Philomena Gnanapragasam, CEO and Secretariat Director of the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD), along with her team, visited the UHD World Association (UWA) office in Beijing. UWA is the first international industry and standard organization from china for science and technology. UWA has 324 members are from 19 countries and region overseas. The purpose of the visit was to participate in an AIBD program focused on understanding and discussing UWA’s latest technological advancements, specifically the Audio Vivid and HDR Vivid technology for broadcasting and OTT applications.
The delegation had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Vincent Zhang, General Secretary of UWA, and Mr. Gang Li, Operations Director. During the meeting, discussions centered around the capabilities of Vivid technology. Ms. Gnanapragasam and team were particularly interested in how Vivid’s immersive, reality-like simulated sound experience could enhance the broadcasting and OTT landscape. HDR is a separate technology that Vivid focuses on. It delivers high contrast images with lifelike colors and details in both bright and dark areas.
This visit was initiated and arranged by Mr Liming Fu from the International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers.
