Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – 8 August, 2024: The Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD), an intergovernmental international organization, is proud to announce the 19th Asia Media Summit 2024 & Associated Meetings, scheduled for 1st – 5th September 2024 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Under the theme “Media: The New Odyssey,” the event underscores the global community’s dedication to thriving in the new digital era.
AIBD Secretariat Director/CEO, Ms. Philomena Gnanapragasam, stated, “This prestigious event will gather representatives from governments, regional media policymakers, academics, experts, practitioners, and other stakeholders from across the region and beyond to contribute to the development of a thriving media landscape that befits the new era we are in.”
She added, “Under the theme, ‘Media: The New Odyssey,’ the summit will examine the shifting global dynamics and explore collaborative efforts for learning and advancements, various facets of AI in media and broadcast, and the importance of inclusivity and accessibility to empower diverse voices in these changing times.”
The Summit anticipates hosting over 500 regional media practitioners from 50 countries across Asia, the Pacific, Africa, and Europe. Additionally, several Ministers of Communication and Information from the Asia-Pacific region will join the summit. In collaboration with various strategic partners, AIBD will host 10 pre-summit workshops from 1st – 2nd September 2024, leading up to the main summit on 3rd – 4th September 2024.
Returning to Malaysia after nine years, the Asia Media Summit was last held in Kuala Lumpur in 2015 before traveling to various countries, including South Korea, China, India, Cambodia, and Indonesia. The Summit, AIBD’s flagship event, remains a cornerstone for media professionals to network, share knowledge, and discuss the future of the industry.
