AIBD/ITU Regional Pre-Summit Masterclass on

Technologies defining the New Broadcast media approaches

21-22 May 2023

Bali, Indonesia

BACKGROUND

Television will move into a more dynamic phase. There will be more merging of the functions of your cellphone and TV In the future. The TV will be a screen for your cellphone, for example. Also, expect more virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and ultra-high-definition TV. The television industry and the broadcast sector have been undergoing many challenges in recent years.

In addition, digitalization of papers, the evolvement of streaming media, the explosion of mass content creation, and on-demand access to various content: we are now entering a new era of how television content is created, delivered, and even defined.

A masterclass on the Future of Television is therefore a fantastic opportunity to learn from the experts who excel in their industry and be inspired by media experts.

OBJECTIVES

This Masterclass aims to gather television stakeholders to a face-to-face event during the Asia Media Summit (AMS) organised by the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) and hosted by the public television broadcaster in Indonesia, TVRI.

It is a short but intensive course of study focused on Television, specifically the future of television. This 2-day masterclass will expose participants to a higher level of teaching and learning, that helps broaden their knowledge and expertise in the relevant fields.

EXPECTED OUTCOME

The 2-day intense schedule offers both introductory and comprehensive, an ideal mix of foundational know-how and advanced techniques. The programme features presentations by experts, designed to be an interactive session and delivered in a relaxed but motivating environment. Facilitators will shed light on aspects of the training. That will give participants an insights into areas such as personal development and excelling in the field. A white paper (in electronic form) will be made available to the participants during the masterclass and later ITU and AIBD could publish a publication based on some research on a wide range of topics relevant to the Future of Broadcasting authored by an expert.

The directed study allows participants to gain new knowledge and learn new and some best practices to survive and thrive in the television industry. Topics will include simple to advanced levels that foster continuous learning and professional development (CPD). Active participation and learning will help participants to accelerate their specialisation in these relevant fields.
