AIBD International Media Awards 2024 highlights innovation and inclusivity in broadcasting
The AIBD announced the winners of its 2024 International Media Awards, recognizing outstanding achievements in broadcasting. The ceremony, held at the Sheraton Petaling Jaya Hotel in Malaysia, highlighted innovation, inclusivity, and cultural diversity, underscoring the media’s role in connecting communities and advancing technology.
The event honored media professionals across television, radio, and digital platforms. It was attended by Malaysia’s Minister of Communications, H.E. YB Fahmi Fadzil, and Papua New Guinea’s Minister for Communication and Information Technology, H.E. Timothy Masiu along with several regional dignitaries. H.E. YB Fahmi Fadzil presented the awards to the recipients.
- Korean Broadcasting Services (KBS) won Best TV Programme on Inclusivity for All with A Woman Who Lived the Street, recognized for its portrayal of marginalized communities.
- Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) took home Best Radio Programme on Building Cultural Bridges for its show Good Morning Friends, which promotes cultural understanding.
- Voice of Vietnam (VOV) earned the Technology Award on Accessibility Broadcasting with Paving the Path of Hope, applauded for advancing media accessibility for people with disabilities.
A special highlight of the event was the Women Leadership Excellence Awards, celebrating pioneers like , Director-General of Thailand’s Public Relations Department, and Dato’ Anis Rizana Mohd Zainudin, Malaysia’s first female Director-General of the Royal Customs and Excise Department.
The event emphasized the critical role of media in driving positive social change across the region, encouraging continued innovation and ethical storytelling.
