Crafting a Clear Vision for Social Media Engagement
The Asia Media Summit 2015 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia will offer public as well as private broadcasters in Asia Pacific a wide range of opportunities to debate, examine and formulate a clear vision for social media and pursue innovative strategies in dealing with this new media platform. As they recognise the growing symbiotic relationship they have with social media, broadcasters need to master this social media landscape in order to enhance their programmes, audience engagement and income generation.
While some broadcasters consider social media competition, others believe they can co-exist with social media and make this new platform a key partner to achieve their organisation’s goals.
Binyuan Reports on AIBD’s Accomplishments
AIBD Director Yang Binyuan has briefed member countries on the accomplishments of the Institute during the past 12 months that included the successful implementation of 32 training activities benefiting close to a thousand broadcasters, and of the Asia Media Summit 2014 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and the 2nd International Conference on Broadcast Training in Kuala Lumpur.
Indonesia and Bangladesh Re-elected to Head the General Conference
Indonesia and Bangladesh have been re-elected President and Vice-President respectively of the 13th AIBD General Conference held on 14 August 2014 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Re-elected by a majority vote, the two member countries will serve the body for an additional two-year term with effect from August 2014.
SPT Endorses Draft Program for AMS 2015
AIBD’s Strategic Plan Team (SPT) has met during the 13th General Conference in Phnom Penh, Cambodia to review the Institute’s major projects in 2014 and examine planned activities in 2015, particularly the Asia Media Summit to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in May next year.
Media Law in Focus
Critical issues of law affecting broadcasters and other media professionals were the subject of a 3-day regional workshop organised by AIBD in Kuala Lumpur between 16-18 July 2014. The event, supported by the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES), attracted close to 20 participants representing 7 countries in South and South-east Asia.
