19TH ASIA MEDIA SUMMIT
The Asia Media Summit (AMS) is an annual international media conference organised by AIBD as its flagship event. Every year in consultation with the members, partners and various global media gurus, a theme guides the direction and delivery of the summit. Being a unique broadcasting event in Asia-Pacific, it attracts around 500 top-ranking broadcasters, decision makers, media professionals, regulators, scholars, and stakeholders from within and outside the region. Apart from plenary sessions and pre-summit workshops, Asia Media Summit also provides a platform for intergovernmental dialogues to uplift the benchmarks of the regional media industry.

    The deadline for AMS 2016 registration is Friday, 15 April 2016 which is approaching fast. If you have not done this, please register online as soon as possible at the link here. We are asking for registration by the deadline for logistical purposes.
     

  3. AMS 2016 Hotels Registration Deadline

    The official hotel for AMS 2016 delegates will be the Oakwood Premier Incheon Hotel, while the satellite hotel will be Orakai Songdo Park Hotel, both located at a close walking distance to the Songdo Convensia (Convention) Center.

Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) in collaboration with the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) organised a one-day regional workshop on Management and Digitisation of Audio-Video Archives. The participants were from radio and television organisations, with experience in archiving of audio and video contents. The workshop was held on 29 February 2016 prior to the ABU Digital Broadcast Symposium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

AIBD is pleased to announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), Iran will host the 42nd Annual Gathering / 15th AIBD General Conference & Associated Meetings. The event will be held in Tehran, Iran from 25 to 27 August 2016.

The venue for GC 2016 will be the Ibn Sina Hall of the IRIB International Conference Center. The official hotel for the event will be the Parsian Esteghlal International Hotel. AIBD will inform delegates regarding the hotel room rates in due course.

Delegates to the 14th AIBD General Conference & Associated Meetings elected through balloting China, Indonesia, and Korea as new members of the AIBD Executive Board (EXBO). Malaysia and Thailand were re-elected to the Board.

Completing the nine-man board are incumbent members Maldives, the Philippines, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

Meeting after the voting, members of the EXBO elected Maldives as their new Chairman, while Indonesia and Sri Lanka were selected as its Vice Chairman.

Maldives was represented by Mr Ibrahim Khaleel, Managing Director of Public Service Media, who thanked members for their vote of confidence.

China and Iran have accepted to host two important AIBD activities taking place in 2016 and 2017.

The State Administration of Press, Publications, Radio, Film and TV, China (SAPPRFT) has tentatively decided to host the Asia Media Summit in 2017, likely to be held outside Beijing.

However, it will need final approval from China’s central government before preparations for the Summit can begin.

This will be the third time China will host the AMS, the first happened in Macau and the second in Beijing in 2010.
