Asia Media Summit 2024

19TH ASIA MEDIA SUMMIT
The Asia Media Summit (AMS) is an annual international media conference organised by AIBD as its flagship event. Every year in consultation with the members, partners and various global media gurus, a theme guides the direction and delivery of the summit. Being a unique broadcasting event in Asia-Pacific, it attracts around 500 top-ranking broadcasters, decision makers, media professionals, regulators, scholars, and stakeholders from within and outside the region. Apart from plenary sessions and pre-summit workshops, Asia Media Summit also provides a platform for intergovernmental dialogues to uplift the benchmarks of the regional media industry.

AIBD Director Yang Binyuan says more than 400 broadcasters, new media experts and specialists will attend the 10th Asia Media Summit anniversary that will highlight discussion and debate on the many dimensions of diversity in enriching the broadcasting experience.

“Diversity allows for a vast array of ideas, opinions, and perspectives to flourish that will enrich media’s content and better serve their audience in an increasingly fragmented marketplace,” Mr. Binyuan said in his message to the foreign and local participants.

He also said that we see diversity in new media and emerging technologies and applications, programs, skills and standards that help broadcasters to critically understand and employ them in building a sustainable business and in contributing to society’s development.

Representing AIBD as main organiser of the AMS, Mr. Binyuan called on all participants to get engaged in this Summit.

“Let us all be heard and learn from the diversity of experience and expertise to be shared during the two-day conference,” he said.

Dr. Abdul-Aziz Bin Muhiuddin Khoja, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Culture and Information on behalf of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques, will deliver the keynote address during the inaugural session on 6 May 2014.

The conference features five plenary sessions, two parallel sessions, a moderated debate and a CEO roundtable.

This autumn I had the pleasure of conducting 2 in-country workshops on “Children’s TV Programmes” organized by AIBD with the support of NRK. The first workshop was held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, hosted by National Television of Cambodia (TVK) from 14 to 18 October with a group of 12 participants. Then I conducted the second activity with 11 participants from Radio Television Brunei (RTB) in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei from 4 to 9 November 2013.
