19TH ASIA MEDIA SUMMIT
The Asia Media Summit (AMS) is an annual international media conference organised by AIBD as its flagship event. Every year in consultation with the members, partners and various global media gurus, a theme guides the direction and delivery of the summit. Being a unique broadcasting event in Asia-Pacific, it attracts around 500 top-ranking broadcasters, decision makers, media professionals, regulators, scholars, and stakeholders from within and outside the region. Apart from plenary sessions and pre-summit workshops, Asia Media Summit also provides a platform for intergovernmental dialogues to uplift the benchmarks of the regional media industry.

World TV Awards 2018 – Winners and Runners-up Announcement

The winners of the World TV Awards 2018 were announced on the 11 May during the Asia Media Summit which took place in New Delhi, India.

The Award ceremony began with Mr Chang Jin, Director of AIBD and Mr John Maguire, Director of International Relations and Cooperation of France Médias Monde were invited on to the stage. As the Chairperson of the jury for the World Television Awards 2018, Mr John Maguire, explained the selection process of the Awards during the ceremony.

“Journey on Foot – Homewards”, broadcast by KBS1 – Korea and directed by Mr Hang Seok won the Award under Humanity Category for the Best TV Documentary on “Immigration or Migration”.

Honorable Minister of State of Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs and Sports Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore, and the sponsor of this category Mr Abdul Rahim Suleiman, Director General, Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), jointly presented a trophy and certificate to Mr Hang Seok.

“Blueprint for Survival – NEWater” directed by Ms Mak Ying Kwan and broadcast by Channel NewsAsia (Mediacorp) – Singapore was the winner for the best TV Programme on “Clean Water for Life”, under the category Science/Environment.

The Honorable Minister of State of Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs and Sports Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore, and the sponsor of this category Mr Zhang Yilong, Director, Overseas Business Development, StarTimes jointly presented a trophy and certificate to Ms Mak Ying Kwan.

For each category the winners will receive a cash prize of US$5,000.

The runner-up for the category Humanity was “The Promising Land”, directed by Ta Quynh Tuand broadcast by Vietnam Television – Vietnam.

“Drinking Water “, directed by Artem Petrov and broadcast by JSC Khabar Agency – Kazakhstan was the runner-up for the category Science/Environment.

The World TV Awards 2018 were supported by Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), StarTimes, Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) and France Médias Monde, and organised by Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD)
