Project Background

Radio, with its roots tracing back to the early 20th century, has witnessed a spectacular evolution marked by technological advancements, socio-political transformations, and cultural revolutions. From its humble beginnings as a means of wireless communication medium to its widespread adoption as a primary source of news, music, drama, and educational programming, radio has emerged as a cornerstone of mass media.

The theme for World Radio Day 2024 is  Radio: A Century Informing, Entertaining, and Educating. The theme aims to highlight the legacy of radio, its present relevance and its future potential.  Moreover, the theme acknowledges radio’s pivotal role in informing, entertaining, and educating people around the world.

This project aims to highlight the impact of radio by commemorating its legacy, analysing its present relevance and envisioning a promising future through its role of educating, informing and entertaining.
