International Metropolitan Broadcast Media Cooperation Forum held in Beijing

The International Metropolitan Broadcast Media Cooperation Forum, organized by China Radio International (CRI) was held in Beijing on December 2nd, 2011, followed by the grand gathering on December 3rd marking CRI’s 70th anniversary. AIBD Director Yang Binyuan was invited to speak at the inaugural session of the Forum.

The theme of the Forum is “Openness, Cooperation and Win-Win: Cooperation and Development of Metropolitan Broadcast Media in the Era of Globalization”. More than 100 senior managers and media professionals from 40 domestic and international metropolitan broadcast media throughout the world attended the one-day Forum and exchanged views on cooperation, new media, brand building and media management.

The keynote speakers at the inaugural session include Mr. Wang Guoqing, Vice Minister of the State Information Office, Mr. Tian Jin, Vice Minister of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) and Mr. Wang Gengnian, Director-General of China Radio International.

A Beijing Declaration was issued at the end of the Forum, establishing a mechanism among participating broadcast media organizations for closer exchanges and consultations to share information and deepen cooperation for mutual benefits.

Grand Gathering Marking CRI’s 70th Anniversary

On December 3rd, 2011, the grand gathering held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing marking CRI’s 70th anniversary.

Liu Yunshan, head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee made remarks at the ceremony. He saluted staff members of CRI who had made great contributions to China’s overseas broadcasting efforts and praised CRI as a driving force in overseas broadcasting. He also called on CRI to accelerate the establishment of a modern, comprehensive and innovative international media group.

Liu Yunshan Speaks at the Grand Gathering

As China’s only overseas national broadcaster, CRI, founded on December 3, 1941, currently boasts the greatest number of language services among international media around the globe. CRI disseminates information in 61 languages via radio, television, newspapers, internet and mobile phones.
