Asia Media Summit 2024

19TH ASIA MEDIA SUMMIT
The Asia Media Summit (AMS) is an annual international media conference organised by AIBD as its flagship event. Every year in consultation with the members, partners and various global media gurus, a theme guides the direction and delivery of the summit. Being a unique broadcasting event in Asia-Pacific, it attracts around 500 top-ranking broadcasters, decision makers, media professionals, regulators, scholars, and stakeholders from within and outside the region. Apart from plenary sessions and pre-summit workshops, Asia Media Summit also provides a platform for intergovernmental dialogues to uplift the benchmarks of the regional media industry.

Director Meets Pakistani High Commissioner to Malaysia

Ms Philomena, Director AIBD, recently paid a visit to Pakistani High Commission in Kuala Lumpur to meet newly appointed High Commissioner H.E Amna Baloch.

Pakistani High Commissioner to Malaysia H.E Amna Baloch, who started her term here a month ago, welcomed the Director warmly. The Director her briefed about the recent activities of AIBD especially the Angkor Anti-Fake News and Minister’s conclave.  H.E Amna Baloch informed that Pakistan is trying to cope with the challenge and Fake news and the new Government is devising policies on fake news, media literacy and right to information, and AIBD can help a lot in giving consultation  which can be beneficial to the country.

Ms Philomena also discussed Pakistan’s role as one of the AIBD’s pioneer members. She suggested that Pakistan should play an active role in the region to narrow down the technological gap among developed, developing and under-developed countries. She suggested that High commission should invite H.E Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Special Advisor to Prime Minister of Pakistan on Information and Broadcasting to the upcoming Minister’s conclave to be held in Samoa, early next year.

 

H.E Amna Baloch, appreciated the efforts of AIBD and congratulated Ms Philomena to take charge as new Director and hoped that High commission would strengthen its working relationship with the institute.
