GC 2011 Welcome Letter

Dear Delegates and Guests,

It gives us great pleasure to welcome you together with the host Mongolian National Public Radio and Television (MNB) to the 37th Annual Gathering / 10th AIBD General Conference and Associated Meetings in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia. We hope you had a pleasant trip to Mongolia.

Dear Delegates and Guests,

It gives us great pleasure to welcome you together with the host Mongolian National Public Radio and Television (MNB) to the 37th Annual Gathering / 10th AIBD General Conference and Associated Meetings in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia. We hope you had a pleasant trip to Mongolia.

 

AIBD & Host Secretariat:

The Secretariat is located at Block B, Level 2, Saphire Banquet Hall opposite the Grand Ballroom of the Sunjin Grand Hotel. We can be contacted at Ext 7753 from 0800 a.m. to 1800 p.m.

 

Conference venue:

All meetings on 25, 26, and 27 July 2011 will take place at Block B, Grand Ballroom located at Level 2.

Registration for the General Conference will take place on Monday, 25 July 2011, beginning 08:00 a.m. in front of Block B, Level 2, Sunjin Grand Ballroom.

The delegates who are arriving early are kindly requested to collect your documents/conference bag from the Secretariat from 24 July 2011 onwards.

 

Coffee breaks, lunch and receptions:

Both the morning and afternoon coffee breaks will be served at the Grand Ballroom foyer.

Lunch will be served at Pharos Continental Restaurant on the 1st floor on 25 – 27 July from 12:30 to 2pm. All accompanying persons are welcome to join the lunch.

 

Inauguration Ceremony:

The Inauguration Ceremony will take place on 25 July 2011 at 5.30 p.m. at Block B, Level 2, Sunjin Grand Ballroom. You are kindly requested to be seated by 5.00 p.m. at the latest. Dress Code is formal attire. All delegates and accompanying persons are invited to attend this ceremony, which will be followed by a dinner reception. Vegetarian food is served for the Muslim delegates.

 

Internet Café:

The Internet café is situated in the Secretariat Room and will be open from 24 July 2011 and onwards from 09.00 – 18.00 hrs.

 

Excursion on 28 July 2011:

Our host has kindly organized a half-day Excursion for all delegates and accompanying persons on 28 July. Pick-up time is at 09.00 a.m. in the main lobby of the hotel.

The excursion will include the visit to the largest “Ger” in Mongolia, mini “Naadam festival” with traditional wrestling, horse racing, archery and national art performance. Mongolian barbecue will be served at lunch. The excursion will end at 16.00 p.m.

You are kindly requested to register for the tour and confirm your attendance no later than 26 July 2011.

 

Additional Information – Hotel services:

Only a few hotel staff can communicate in English. Therefore for any room service requirements, please call reception at no. “0” -zero.

Taxi services are available to the city. Please contact the reception to call a taxi. Taxi fare to the city center is approximately 6 USD (excluding call charges) and required to be made in local currency.

A Korean restaurant is located at Block C of this hotel for those who wish to have Korean cuisine. Please note that the payment is required to be in local currency and in cash. The last order at all restaurants are 30 minutes before its closure at 10.00 pm.

Apart from the dining facilities at the hotel itself, there are many restaurants and food stalls in the vicinity. Please request a copy of “That’s Ulaanbaatar” which contains the latest update on useful information from the hotel reception. Also a convenience store is located within walking distance of the Sunjin Grand Hotel.

 

Departure:

We recommend that you reconfirm your return air tickets at your earliest opportunity. You can ask either the business centre or the hotel’s concierge for their assistance.

The Sunjin Grand Hotel also practices the international check out time i.e at 12 noon.

For delegates who need to check out early morning on 28 July, there will be a concierge storeroom available to keep their luggage and collect them later on return from Excursion.
