China Radio International (CRI) will pursue more initiatives with AIBD and ABU, actively engaging with broadcasters in the Asia-Pacific region to address the challenges of rapidly developing communication technologies and competition from new media platforms.

A six-member CRI delegation, led by Prof. Dr. Li Zhongshang, Deputy Editor-in-chief of CRI, made known this commitment during a visit to AIBD in Kuala Lumpur on 6 April 2011.

The meeting focused on strengthening the existing relationship and identifying areas of cooperation in such areas as training, conference, research and publication.

CRI, which has been restructured in the new media age with the new name China International Broadcasting Network (CIBN), has been actively involved in AIBD and ABU activities for the past 30 years. It will celebrate its 70th anniversary in December this year and is planning to hold various celebration activities.

The group also met ABU Secretary-General Javad Mottaghi and visited Radio Television Malaysia (RTM), where they met with Dr. Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus, Director of Strategic Development and toured the radio studios.
