Hanoi Ready for AMS 2011

Preparations for the Asia Media Summit 2011, which will be hosted by the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) in Hanoi from May 23-25, 2011, are going smoothly and Hanoi is ready to welcome delegates from around the world to attend this important intellectual gathering and the biggest media event in Asia-Pacific.

AIBD Director Yang Binyuan paid an official visit recently to Hanoi to contribute for successful preparations of the Asia Media Summit 2011. The visit was very fruitful as it finalized most details of the AMS 2011 and provided an opportunity for AIBD and VOV to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the future.

Visit VOV and Meet with President of VOV, Prof. Dr. Vu Van Hien

On March 30th, 2011, together with AIBD Program Manager, Mr. Marcel Gomez, Director Yang Binyuan visited VOV headquarters in Hanoi and met with Prof. Dr. Vu Van Hien, President of VOV, and his staff.

Prof. Hien said that Voice of Vietnam has made thorough preparations for the Asia Media Summit 2011 (which they call it AMS 8). He added that VOV has held a meeting of the steering committee for the summit with the participation of relevant agencies. Prof. Hien asked AIBD to select the delegates and reports in compliance with the summit’s theme as well as the host country’s law.

Director Yang Binyuan thanked Prof. Hien for VOV’s host of the AMS 2011 and praised VOV’s efforts in the organization of the summit and promised that AIBD would work closely with VOV in the coming months to make AMS 8 a great success.

Meeting with VOV on AMS Preparations

On March 31st, 2011, VOV-AIBD Final Preparatory Worship Leading Up to AMS 8 was held at VOV headquarters. The meeting was co-chaired by Yang Binyuan, Director of AIBD, and Mr. Dao Duy Hua, Deputy General Director of VOV. The meeting was very fruitful as it finalized most issues regarding Pre-Summit & AMS 2011.

AMS Hotels Inspection and Confirmation

During his stay in Hanoi, Director Yang Binyuan visited the main venue of the AMS, Melia Hotel and met hotel management. He inspected the hotel facilities and went through pre-summit & AMS venue and facilities requirement and signed contract with Melia Hotel.

He also visited two other hotels initially chosen for AMS 2011 delegates. However, after careful consideration, it was decided not to use Hoa Binh Hotel for the AMS. It will only use Melia Hotel and Mercure Hotel.

Visit VTV

On April 1st, 2011, Director Yang Binyuan visited Vietnam Television (VTV), where he met Mr. Tran Binh Minh, Vice President of VTV. VTV is to host the welcome dinner for AMS delegates on May 23rd, 2011. Director Yang thanked Mr. Tran for their generous support and promised AIBD’s commitment to further cooperation with VTV in the future.
