AMS 2019 – PRELIMINARY MEETINGS IN CAMBODIA
AIBD officials Ms Philomena Gnanapragasam, Interim Director, AIBD and Mr Nabeel Tirmazi, Programme Manager, AIBD, visited the Royal Kingdom of Cambodia for preliminary meetings for upcoming Asia Media Summit 2019. Both officials landed to Siem Reap where the event will start on 11 June till 14 June 2019. Discussions with the hotel management held in Sokha Siem Reap Convention Center along with the officials from the Ministry of Information Cambodia. Hotel management assured that all international delegates would enjoy their stay during the event and the technical facilities provided by the Hotel will make this event successful.
On 10th January 2019, an official meeting was held at the Ministry of Information Cambodia in Phnom Penh. Honorable Minister of Information Khieu Kanharith welcomed the officials and discussed the preparations of Asia Media Summit 2019. He said, delegates will not only find this summit informative because of its theme of Media Digitisation but also will enjoy the historic city of Siem Reap. He further said the summit will be very helpful to Cambodian journalists to enhance their skill set and know more about the latest international journalistic standards.
On 11th January 2019, both AIBD officials attended the annual gathering of Cambodian journalists hosted by Prime Minister Hun Sen. During his address to the gathering of 5000 journalists, Prime Minister emphasized on the importance of Cyber Security and Access to Information to fight with the challenge of Fake News.
Asia Media Summit 2019 will have the theme of Media Digitisation with a focus of underdeveloped markets. The summit will comprise eight plenary sessions discussing the impact of fourth industrial revolution with the subjects of Artificial Intelligence, Latest Technologies in Broadcasting Distribution, strategies to overcome Disinformation/Fake News, latest Broadcasting Monetisation strategies, etc.
