YB Dato’ Seri Utama Dr Rais Yatim, Malaysian Minister of Information, Communications and Culture, urges broadcasters to accept new media to complement program delivery, stressing the need to engage rather than confront this new challenge in the evolving media environment.
“With this latest shift in paradigm, there need to be new skills. With such momentous revolution in technology, the Asia Pacific must work together,” the Malaysian Minister said in a message on the eve of the 1st International Conference on Broadcast Training, on 25-26 February 2013 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
More than 30 speakers will share their insights in the two-day conference which will be attended by top officials from broadcast training organizations around the world. He will deliver the keynote address at the inaugural session dealing with the conference theme ‘ Building Competencies in an Evolving Media Environment.’
Presidents of broadcast organizations and senior managers of some 40 media training organizations across Asia-Pacific will gather at this conference to examine ways to maximize the benefits of new information and communication technologies for long-term growth, greater customer satisfaction and meaningful contribution to development. They will particularly assess the capacity and competence of their human resource in addressing the technological, regulatory, economic and governance issues of the changing media landscape. Other media organizations from Europe are also participating in this event.
The two-day conference is organized by IPPTAR, Kementerian Penerangan Komunikasi dan Kebudayaan (KPKK) and AIBD. Mrs Dra. Rosarita Niken Widiastuti, President Director, RRI, Indonesia, Datuk Adilah Shek Omar Director, Tun Abdul Razak Broadcasting & Information Institute (IPPTAR), Malaysia, and Mrs Nathalie Labourdette Head, Eurovision Academy, Switzerland are just a number to name to attend the conference.
