Asia Media Summit 2024

19TH ASIA MEDIA SUMMIT
The Asia Media Summit (AMS) is an annual international media conference organised by AIBD as its flagship event. Every year in consultation with the members, partners and various global media gurus, a theme guides the direction and delivery of the summit. Being a unique broadcasting event in Asia-Pacific, it attracts around 500 top-ranking broadcasters, decision makers, media professionals, regulators, scholars, and stakeholders from within and outside the region. Apart from plenary sessions and pre-summit workshops, Asia Media Summit also provides a platform for intergovernmental dialogues to uplift the benchmarks of the regional media industry.

The workshop, held at the IPPTAR lab, was attended by 15 participants from local news organizations in Malaysia and journalists from government broadcast organizations in Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. The workshop was conducted by Mr Thorsten Karg, Project Manager of Asia Division at Deutsche Welle Akademie.

The activity's focus was a practical exploration of the media convergence phenomenon. Participants were able to identify aspects of a current affairs story for different platforms and work journalistically across a variety of media.

During the course of the five-day workshop, participants worked on individual journalistic blogs and were required to employ various web-based media (text / photos / audio / video) in developing their news stories. The final blog posts were presented at the end of the workshop.
