French Government / AIBD – Regional Workshop on SOAP OPERA
“Soap Opera: From the Idea to the Production” is the second regional workshop of the third year training programmes dedicated to TV content, formats and visual dynamics supported by the French Government and AIBD. From November 14 to 17, 2011 in Manila, Philippines, the local TV channel GMA hosted the workshop, which included participants from Media Prima (Malaysia), SCTV (Indonesia) and GMA.

This 4-day workshop aimed to develop the fundamental principles of a TV Soap Opera: understanding of the audience, preparation of the scripts, analysis of the different roles of the script editor and the scriptwriter, importance of the climax and the cliffhanger and developing the creativity skills of the participants.

Benoit Delorme, a French TV Producer and Director, as well Concept Developer, based in Manila, and the scriptwriter Nans Delgado, known for the writing of many projects, especially the French movie LOL (which will be adapted in USA), were the two experts who conducted this workshop.

At the end of the workshop, the enthusiastic participants with the experts were able to create a soap opera by developing together the “bible” of the project and the character toolbox. If the TV channels are interested, this Soap Opera might be broadcast in the future.
