Call for Entries for AIBD International Awards 2023 (Deadline: 19th April 2023)

The Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) is excited to announce the launch of its international award for 2023, recognizing and rewarding outstanding initiatives in the year 2021 and 2022.

The award is open to all AIBD member organizations (full and affliates), with following three categories:

  1. Best Television Programme on Amplifying Economic Recovery Efforts
    • The media has the potential to play an important role in fostering economic recovery by highlighting new approaches to increasing general public financial literacy and encouraging entrepreneurship, as well as promoting tourism and providing a forum for experts to share ideas on navigating the current economic climate. In this context, AIBD is announcing this theme for the best television programme on the role of the media in bolstering economic recovery efforts. This award aims to recognise and reward television programmes that promote economic recovery, raise awareness of the media’s role in recovery promotion, and encourage media outlets to include recovery-related issues in their programming.

    • Prize Money: USD 2,000
    • Entry form: Best TVProgramme 2023
  2. Best Radio Programme for Peace
    • The media has a significant impact on shaping public opinion and framing narratives that can have an impact on domestic and international situations. This year the theme of World Radio Day in 2023 is “Radio and Peace.” Radio can both fuel and prevent conflicts from escalating. Professional radio addresses the origins and triggers of conflicts through editorial decisions before they potentially escalate into violence. It contributes to the understanding of societal deficiencies and imbalances, poverty, resource or land disputes, corruption, and arms racing. It can also serve as an early warning system for potential conflict triggers. Professional, independent radio strengthens democracy and lays the groundwork for long-term peace. AIBD seeks to give this award for the best peace radio programme in order to recognise and reward radio programmes that promote peace and conflict prevention through professional journalism, fact-checking, and balanced reporting.

    • Prize Money: USD 2,000
    • Entry Form: >Best Radio Programme 2023
  3. Sustainability & Green Technology Award
    • The Sustainability & Green Technology Award seeks to recognise and reward exceptional initiatives in green technology adaptation, innovative broadcast management or making work processes following the SDG 2030 targets. All media organisations and individuals working in the broadcasting industry are eligible for the award. The prize will go to those who have implemented creative and effective tactics in the broadcasting sector, as well as made substantial contributions to decreasing the industry’s environmental impact. The goal of this prize is to encourage media organisations and people to adopt sustainable practises and innovative broadcasting tactics.

    • Prize Money: USD 1,000
