From 2 to 5 September 2014 the Institut Penyiaran dan Penerangan Tun Abdul Razak (IPPTAR), along with AIBD and the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) organized a Regional Workshop on Children’s TV Programmes in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The In-Country Seminar on Broadcast Management organised by AIBD in collaboration with Telekom Malaysia (TM) was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 19 August 2014. The seminar was designed specifically for TM staff from sales, marketing, technical, customer care centre, officers and managers. The seminar aims to bring understanding the broadcast industry, especially to get a feel of developments concerning technology, business and regulation.

The In-Country workshop on Digital Video Broadcasting - Terrestrial (DVB T2) organised by AIBD in collaboration with Prasar Bharati and STI (T) was held in New Delhi, India from 4 to 8 August 2014. The workshop was designed specifically for broadcast engineers/technicians associated with planning, implementation, operation and maintenance of digital television broadcasting. The workshop also covered various techniques and parameters of DVB-T2.

Critical issues of law affecting broadcasters and other media professionals were the subject of a 3-day regional workshop organised by AIBD in Kuala Lumpur between 16-18 July 2014.  The event, supported by the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES), attracted close to 20 participants representing 7 countries in South and South-east Asia.

The 4M Jakarta Forum, to be held from 23-24 September 2014 in Jakarta, Indonesia will bring together more than 100 professionals from 10 ASEAN countries and Europe to discuss how online journalism is changing the way the general audience is interacting with information makers, the regional trends, limitations and possibilities. The pitch of the Forum is “Informing on the Web”.

For a week from 28 April to 2 May 2014, international radio broadcaster Voice of Nigeria (VON) gathered in Lagos to prepare for a new Strategic Plan. In a workshop facilitated by AIBD, some 30 participants looked at the international media environment and the ways in which a Strategic Plan is crafted, monitored and published as a promise to audiences and parliamentary funders.

From 7 to 11 April 2014, I had the pleasure of chairing the AIBD/NRK/LNTV in-country workshop on Children’s TV Programme in Vientiane, Laos. 16 participants from all over the country attended the activity and it was a hardworking, creative and enthusiastic group.

AIBD together with Voice of Nigeria (VON) holds a five day in-country workshop on Performance Management for Corporate Planning and Evaluation which commenced on 28 April 2014 with the aim of identifying the objectives that are needed to be affirmed and refined, along with the initiatives to be put in place in order to meet the aspirations of Voice of Nigeria.

From 17 to 21 March 2014, I had the pleasure of chairing an in-country workshop on children’s TV programmes organised in Fiji by AIBD and supported by NRK for 9 participants of Fiji Broadcasting Corporation (FBC). FBC TV is rather new - only 2 years old and with relatively small - but very enthusiastic staff.

From 10 to 14 February 2014, an in-country workshop on Broadcast Management for Senior Managers was held in Kathmandu, Nepal, organised by AIBD, FES and hosted by Nepal Television (NTV).
