Aims

The workshop aims to enhance the skill set of the existing reporters for elections coverage. To train the reporters and producers on elections operations and protocols during elections and how to plan for the election while getting acquainted with electoral rules, voter rights, preparation for contingencies and conducting appropriate risk assessments.

 

Objectives

election programming (including party political broadcasts).

 Getting acquainted with electoral rules, mechanisms and processes while preparing for contingencies.

Planning and liaising liaising with potential interviewees and panellists for election-related programmes.

Learning about the importance of ‘professionalism’; the basic tenants of election reporting.

How to avoid conflict of interest; maintaining the distinction between reporting, commenting and analysis.
