Aims

The workshop will acquaint participants with various aspects of journalism for the broadcast medium. The workshop will involve participants in news writing, simulated live reporting, and production for multimedia platforms. The workshop will engage participants in continuous practice to enhance their ability to work professionally in a computerized newsroom environment.

OBJECTIVES & OUTCOMES

At the end of the workshop, the participants will be able to:

·         Understanding the roles and responsibilities of public service journalist/ reporter;

                 ·         Learn and improve on professional structured news writing and news editing efficiently;

                 ·         Produce news piece ready for TV/Radio.

·         Apply writing techniques for multimedia platforms;

·         Critically evaluate broadcast materials using evaluation standards; and

·         Applying media law and ethical issues in broadcast journalism.

                ·         News gathering and sources of information

                ·         News writing and editing techniques

                ·         Interview techniques

                ·         Live reporting

                ·         Practical Session

Profile Of Participant (15 Maximum)

·         News and Programme Departments (TV & Radio);

·         Fresh journalists, producers & scriptwriters who produce/write scripts on news and documentary production for radio and television;

·         Cameramen and video editors;

·         At least three (3) years of experience in television and radio programme production is an essential criteria; and

·         Ability to express and write in English fluently.
