AIBD/IPDC-UNESCO Regional Workshop ‘Connecting in a Crisis’ Radio, Social Media, Natural Disasters & Climate Change

As the 3rd day begins for the AIBD/IPDC-UNESCO Regional Workshop ‘Connecting in a Crisis’ Radio, Social Media, Natural Disasters & Climate Change, the participants have had sessions touching on environment and climate change, health communication and audience mapping as well as session highlighting the online tools available for journalists.

The consultant, Mr Anthony Frangi, an award-winning Media and Communications strategist with more than 30 years' experience in media management, programming and presenting, journalism education and communication, highlighted on the importance of radio in a crisis situation and how to combine social media to create a wider network of connection.

The sessions had guest speakers such as Executive Director of Centre for Environment, Technology and Development Malaysia (CETDEM), Mr Anthony Tan Kee Huat, Dr Husnina Binti Ibrahim, Public Health Specialist and District Health Officer from Putrajaya Health Department and Ms Irene Jay Liu from Google Inc.

After 2 days of lectures, the participants are preparing for their presentations in groups of 4, and will present on their topics in later sessions.
