Aims

This four-day workshop is designed to provide professional staff with the knowledge and skills they need to carry out effective training (formal and on-the-job) and core competency development programmes.  The workshop focuses on the principles of adult learning and their application, training needs analysis, instructional techniques, training design and assessment. It is about how to plan, deliver and evaluate training programmes, but does not focus on specific skills or job practices. 

It is aimed at training the participant to be an effective trainer. It is about how to plan, deliver and evaluate training programmes.  With the relevant skills and knowledge, the participant becomes a change agent and confident in delivering presentations as well as a professional staff.

Mode of Learning

The Learning Objectives of this Training of Trainers (ToT) and its standards to be achieved will focus on the minimal set of attributes needed for trainers who will be able to manage training situations in their respective context, situate training content, and evaluate training needs of broadcasters.

They will be able to provide training in a multimedia content environment. The standards will accommodate obligatory (must be present) areas of broadcasting. Where applicable, methods used may also include pedagogical attributes such as; relevant trainers’ attributes for learning, education, teaching and training, mastery level, and prerequisites. 

Semantics of Learning Objects, defined as the attributes of participants, require to adequately describe participants’ own learning objectives. Learning Objectives as entity, digital or non-digital, which can be used, re-used or referenced during supported training and learning back at participants’ own environment such as: 

  • interactive classroom learning environments,
  • collaborative learning among learners of the same domain at their workplaces.

 

Examples of supported learning:

  • multimedia content,
  • instructional content,
  • learning objectives,
  • instructional tools,
  • talents, organizations and events referenced.

 

Objectives

At the end of this 4-day intensive module, participants will be able:

  • to construct, evaluate, and utilize learning objectives during a training session;
  • to select appropriate training strategies to achieve learning objectives for targeted learners for a training session;
  • to demonstrate their training skills in a classroom training sessions;
  • to conduct evaluation sessions of their fellow trainers in a collective and one-on-one session.

 

Profile of Participant (20 maximum)

  • Those who are already working as middle managers & supervisors/trainers;
  • At least 5–7 years’ experience in their respective fields (in news, management, programming, production and/or engineering) in broadcasting and with a desire to become trainers;
  • Upper age limit is 50 years;
  • Ability to understand, speak and write in English fluently.
