The first in a series of Sub-Regional Workshops on Media and Good Governance for Central Asia started on Monday 31st October in Almaty, Kazakhstan for journalists from Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Mr Philippe Rochot a veteran journalist from France Television is conducting this 5-day workshop, which will end on Friday 4th December 2011.
AIBD Director Yang Binyuan, together with AIBD Programme Manager, Saqib Sheikh, attended Public Broadcasters International (PBI) 2011 from 26 to 29 October in Singapore. The conference is in its 20th edition and gathered some 200 members of the global public broadcasting industry.

The regional workshop of AIBD / Hoso Bunka Foundation (HBF) was conducted 19-21 October 2011 at the AIBD headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The topic of the workshop was "Designing edutainment for audiovisual programmes & applications for new media -Iphone, smartphone, Facebook and Internet."
AIBD together with UNESCO–Hanoi and the Ministry of Information and Communications in Vietnam have collaborated to contextualize and translate the English version of the AIBD-FES Publication Broadcasting for All: Focus on Gender to Vietnamese language.
As part of a gesture of close cooperation between AIBD and Tun Abdul Razak Broadcasting and Information Institute (IPPTAR), AIBD was recently invited to exhibit its publications in conjunction with MENTION 2011.
The In-Country Workshop on TV Children’s Programmes for staff of MRTV4 Forever Group started on Monday 10 October 2011. The workshop is conducted by Mr Kalle Furst, a children’s programme specialist from Norway.
The workshop is being held at the newly established Myanmar Media Development Centre (MMDC) in Yangon.
As part of a wider initiative to reflect AIBD’s new direction, the institute has introduced a series of photo walls in the corridors of its office headquarters beginning in September.
The workshop on Media Quality Management hosted by Vietnam Television with the support of AIBD and the Media and Society Foundation was conducted in Hanoi from September 20 to September 22.
AIBD together with UNESCO Office in Hanoi implemented the first mission from 5 to 9 September 2011 as a preparatory meeting to translate into Vietnamese the AIBD/FES publication on “Broadcasting for All: Focus on Gender” – a guideline for gender-sensitive broadcasting.
