AIBD Awards

The AIBD in line with its Strategic Plan and with a view to promote quality programming for various target audience groups, has initiated the AIBD TV Awards which recognized the achievement of television producers in the Asia- Pacific region.

The AIBD Awards are open to all AIBD members only.

Announcement of Call of Entry for AIBD Awards 2018

AIBD is pleased to announce the opening of call of entry for the AIBD Awards 2018. We are pleased to present this opportunity to all AIBD members and affiliates. Supported by AIBD, this competition will provide the opportunity for television and radio producers to receive international recognition for their work.

The Awards are open in the following two categories:

AIBD TV Award for the Best TV programme on:

Category 1: Youth Mental Health Mental health in youth is becoming a global concern. Social scientists claim that due to drastic changes in cultural norms, lifestyles, technological advancements the situation is getting complex for youth. Stress factors like bullying, technology addiction leading narcissism, early financial pressures, vagueness in life goals are making youth more frustrated worldwide.

This year AIBD awards is focusing on this theme to look at some of the issues in positive context and how media can play a vital role in highlighting the impactful solutions for youth.

 

Category 2: Netizens (Uplifting society through internet) Internet has become the most powerful communication medium offering great possibilities for social changes. With the evolution of internet in terms of speed, interactivity and accessibility, it is creating its own culture thus rising many opportunities as well as challenges.  

AIBD TV Awards is looking forward for impactful stories that how internet is contributing in uplifting the communities as well as how netizens (internet users) are utilizing it as socially responsible tool to overcome various challenges of cyber world.

 

AIBD Radio Award and Reinhard Keune Memorial Radio Award for the Best Radio Programme on:

Category 1: Diversity through Sports: Sports has always contributed towards the unification, integration and cohesion in the societies. With our world becoming a global village, it is necessary to understand that sports is one significant way to gather different communities under one flag, learn from each other’s culture to promote cultural diversity.

 

AIBD Radio awards is seeking interesting and positive stories with a concept of ‘inclusion for all’ in sports thus minimizing the cultural/societal gaps.

 

Category 2: Uplifting communities through Sustainable Tourism: Traveling and Tourism industry is becoming a huge part of economy for many countries, not only as the significant contributor for their GDP but also in respect of uplifting the communities residing within them. Sustainable tourism in its purest sense is about making a low impact on the environment and local culture, while helping to generate income, employment, and the conservation of local ecosystems.We are pleased to present this opportunity to all AIBD members and affiliates. Supported by AIBD, these Awards will provide the opportunity for your television and radio producers to receive international recognition for their work.

 

“The Prize” consists of US$500.00 cash, a trophy and a certificate presented by AIBD per Award topic.Winners and runners-up will be announced during the 44th Annual Gathering / 17th AIBD General Conference & Associated Meetings, to be hosted by Sri Lanka in August 2018.Please note that producers can submit one programmeper topic (limit of four submissions for the four topics) and the deadline for programme submission is 12 July 2018.

The announcement and presentation of the winners of the AIBD TV & Radio Awards 2016 was conducted at the Inauguration Ceremony of the AIBD General Conference in Tehran, Iran on 25 August 2016. The winners were each presented with a certificate, trophy and USD 500 as reward for their special programmes.

“BAGAN: BEYOND THE GREAT KINGDOM” – Educational Broadcasting System, Korea

In this programme, they recreate the ancient kingdom of Bagan in Myanmar and connect the audience to its interesting historical heritage.

“SHINGAL’S CHILDREN” – Press TV, IRIB, Iran

This programme explores the plight of those affected by ISIS and forced to relocate in refugee camps.

Mr Yan Chengsheng, Deputy-Director General, SAPPRFT, received both awards and trophies on behalf of winners Mr Guan Jin, Director, China National Radio and China National Radio team

 

 

AIBD RADIO AWARD 2016 on “Best radio programme on Escape from Poverty”

“CONNECTING TONGGUAN VILLAGE WITH THE WORLD” – China National Radio, China

This programme highlighted a terrific initiative which seeks to link rural and urban sectors to decrease poverty.

 

 

REINHARD KEUNE'S MEMORIAL AWARD 2016 on “Best radio programme on Emergency Broadcasting”

"SPECIAL BROADCAST OF THE 8.12 EXPLSION AT THE PORT OF TIANJIN" – China National Radio, China

This programme followed a live broadcast during an emergency scenario and the response of the local authorities to save lives.

AIBD Award Entries showcased at General Conference 2015

AIBD organised a Highlighting of Selected AIBD Award Entries during the 41st Annual Gathering / 14th AIBD General Conference & Associated Meetings from 1400 – 1600 on 18 August 2015 in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Portions of the Award winning entries and runner-ups in each category were played during this special session open for all delegates of the conference, in recognition of the achievement and the high quality of the programmes.

Each programme portion was preceded by comments on the productions and topics by a representative of the winning organisation (Ms Ng Yuina, Executive Producer, MediaCorp Singapore; Ms Aminath Shahid, Deputy Managing Director, Public Service Media, Maldives and Ms Li Hong, Director of Radio Society, China National Radio) and member of the Award judging panel (Mr A. Ravi Shankar, Programme Manager, AIBD).

Winners for AIBD Awards 2015 Announced

AIBD is pleased to announce the final winners for the AIBD TV and Radio Awards 2015. The judging session took place on 10 July 2015 at the AIBD office in Kuala Lumpur. The winners will be awarded at the 41st Annual Gathering / 14th AIBD General Conference & Associated Meetings to be held from 18 to 20 August 2015 in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

The judges panel included Ms Shelley McMorrow, Executive Director, Osmosis Production Malaysia; Ms Tiffany Ang, Producer, Al-Jazeera; Mr Kamarudin Ambak, Head of Drama Unit, Radio Television Malaysia and Mr Ravi Shankar, Programme Manager, AIBD.

AIBD received 40 entries this year collectively for the awards. The panel evaluated the entries for the different award categories based on concept and production values. The final award winners are below.
