The world celebrated the ITU’s ‘Girls in ICT Day’ on 26 April 2012. In Malaysia, the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) and Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) held ITU’s ‘Girls in ICT Day’ programme under the auspices of the International Telecommunication Union-Universiti Utara Malaysia Asia Pacific Centre of Excellence for Rural ICT Development (ITU-UUM ASP CoE).
Ms. Moneeza Hashmi, General Manager of International Relations, HUM TV Pakistan has been unanimously re-elected for a second term as President of the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association (CBA).
A special Gala Dinner and Cultural Show will be held for all delegates on 29 May 2012 following the completion of the first day of the AMS 2012. The dinner will begin at 7:30 pm and will be held in the Centara Grand’s ballroom.

The Asia Media Summit 2012 online registration deadline for participants has now been extended to 30th April 2012.
Indonesia will host the Asia Media Summit (AMS) 2013 in the city of Manado. This was announced at the Preparatory Meeting of the AMS 2013 on April 16 2012 in Manado, North Sulawesi, Indonesia.
The International Association of Women in Radio and Television (IAWRT), a non-proﬁt professional organization of women working in electronic and allied media, has become AIBD’s affiliate member.
The World Television Awards are open to all broadcasters in Asia, Pacific, Europe, Africa, and North & South America from public, private sector and freelance producers.
The deadline for programme submission is now extended to 1 May 2012.
AIBD is pleased to announce its collaboration with the UN agencies to organize the Pre-Summit workshop on “MDGs: The Final Push – Media’s Role”. The workshop will review the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) ahead of the 2015 deadline and identify priority MDG goals that are still achievable with a 'final push', and what role media can play in this. The seminar will assist broadcasters in developing engaging stories on MDGs in their own countries and in understanding how to utilize the UN as a valuable source in this pursuit. The workshop will take place on 28 May 2012.
